Labour ComplianceThe Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Government of Karnataka on July 02, 2026, issued the Viksit Bharat—Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Scheme – Karnataka.

The following has been stated:

• The scheme is effective from July 01, 2026, in all notified rural districts of the State. The primary objective of the scheme is to provide 125 days of guaranteed wage employment every financial year to eligible rural households willing to undertake unskilled manual work, thereby strengthening livelihood security while creating durable rural assets.

• The scheme adopts a convergence-based planning approach through Viksit Gram Panchayat Plans (VGPPs) and focuses on four key sectors: water security, core rural infrastructure, livelihood-related infrastructure, and climate resilience. It ensures timely wage payment, provides unemployment allowance if work is not provided within 15 days of demand, and grants compensation for delayed wage payments. The scheme also emphasizes digital governance, transparency, social audits, biometric attendance, geo-tagging of works, and public accountability.

• Special provisions have been made for vulnerable groups such as women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, transgender persons, and other disadvantaged sections. It is implemented through Panchayati Raj Institutions under a 60:40 cost-sharing pattern between the Central and State Governments, making it a comprehensive initiative for promoting sustainable rural development, employment generation, and inclusive economic growth.
